Raw Seafood and Giant Pajeon at Eurwang-dong Beach, Incheon

If you're flying into Incheon Airport and you have even a few hours to spare, there's a detour worth making before you hit Seoul. Seonnyeopung (선녀풍) sits near Eurwang Beach in Jung-gu — about 20 minutes from the airport — and it does cold raw fish bibimbap and seafood pancakes better than most places you'll find in the city.

What to Expect

The star here is mulhoe (물회) — cold raw fish in a tangy, spicy broth, served over rice or noodles. Think of it like a deconstructed sashimi bowl with a bright, vinegary kick. It's refreshing rather than heavy, and it eats more like a composed dish than a soup. If you've never had it before, the "Emperor" size comes piled with enough sashimi to make you question whether you ordered for one or four. One reviewer described being surprised twice: once by the sheer volume of fish, and once by how good it actually tasted.

The seafood pancake (haemul pajeon) is absurd. Not in a bad way. It's the size of a large pizza — crispy on the outside, dense with seafood inside. You'll know what I mean when it arrives.

What to Order

Emperor Mulhoe (황제 물회) — The medium size is reportedly around 50,000 won and it's not small. The sashimi sits on top of vegetables and house seasoning. Add noodles for 1,000 won extra. Do it.

Haemul Pajeon (해물파전) — Around 16,000 won and worth every won. Order this to share. The crunch-to-seafood ratio is well executed, and the size alone is worth the trip.

Soju (소주) — Around 5,000 won a bottle. This is a beach town, you're eating cold fish, the sun is setting. You already know.

Atmosphere & Vibe

It's not a polished restaurant. The surrounding Eurwang Beach area is genuinely beautiful at sunset, and a lot of people use the wait time to take photos along the water — which is honestly the right move. The interior is functional. Parking has a friendly attendant. The staff inside, based on multiple accounts, can be brusque when it's busy — don't take it personally, this is a high-volume spot and they're moving fast.

Speaking of which: the wait can be brutal during peak hours. Locals say to grab a waiting ticket when you arrive, then step outside and enjoy the view. Don't just stand inside staring at your phone. The food reportedly comes out within minutes once you're seated — one person clocked their order at under three minutes from table to dish.

One honest note: the banchan (side dishes) here are not the point. They're the pre-packaged, grab-from-a-fridge kind. The seaweed soup has also drawn some mild complaints about being thin. If you come for the mulhoe and the pajeon, you'll leave happy. If you come expecting a full traditional Korean meal experience with elaborate sides, recalibrate.

Go at an off-peak time if you can — late lunch around 2–3pm tends to be quieter than dinner rush. And if you're heading straight from the airport, this is one of those rare cases where the detour actually makes the trip feel like it started properly.

What People Are Saying

"Emperor Mulhoe (small) 50,000 won, green onion pancake 16,000 won, soju 5,000 won, extra noodles 1,000 won I think it came out in less than 3 minutes after I ordered. The sashimi is all you see, and below that is the vegetables and mulhoe seasoning. It looks like a lot of sashimi, but considering the price, it seems like it's about the amount you'd get at a sashimi restaurant without side dishes. It's not small. The seasoning was well-balanced. The only disappointment was that the side dishes looked like those from a grocery store, and the seaweed soup seemed to be made with just water and seaweed, which was a bit disappointing. The mulhoe and pajeon were okay. Personally, I don't think it's a good value restaurant. Unless you're a fan of mulhoe, it's a bit of a stretch to wait in line. The parking attendant was friendly, but the staff inside were not. And the men's restroom was a bit dirty."

"This is a restaurant where you will be surprised once by the huge amount of raw fish and then again by the taste. It is my first time eating such a huge amount of raw fish. 3 servings are enough for 4 adults, but the seafood pancake that we ordered additionally is also large and delicious. Highly recommended^^"

"This raw fish restaurant is doing so well, perhaps partly due to its accessibility, but also because the surrounding area boasts a beautiful view and sunset. Get a waiting ticket, take some photos, enjoy the view, and then come back for some raw fish."
